Fur Harvesters Auction's sale
held May 14th in North Bay brought positive results for most species. The
record quantities on many items can be attributed to our rapidly growing
shipper base, and to them we are truly grateful.
A large contingency of Russian buyers pushed beaver prices up 10%. Once
again, China dominated the otter market, with brown otter advancing slightly
over February levels. Prices of marten, fisher, lynx, and raccoon were firm
to February on a good for good basis.
Demand was selective for muskrat, bobcat, coyote and red fox. Much of the
weakness in demand in these species can be attributed to long delays at
our few remaining dressing plants.
Fur Harvesters Auction took a strong position on holding price levels as
our June offering in North Bay is just around the corner. |
